For my Mac App Users: Moving Images from Your Files to Photos

The Universe Mac app doesn't get a lot of love! After cranking out more sites from there (rather than our beloved iOS app), I recently learned a few new tricks that help out with the site-building process.

Beforehand, when I was editing images on my MacBook, I always had to send my images to myself through iMessage and continue working from my phone. It was a lot more time-consuming to keep having to switch between devices. Not to mention, it could distort the image quality, if it isn't a high-def image in the first place.

Because the Image Block pulls data from your Photos library, a lot of Creators get confused about how to access the files they need.

Here's how:

  1. In the Finder, click on the image you'd like to bring into your Photos library.

  2. Tap on the Share icon- it's the box with the upward arrow!

  3. Click 'Add to Photos'.

Et voila! Your images are now in your Photos, and eligible for selection in the Mac app!

Another cool trick in the Finder that Apple has- and I hope they implement it on mobile devices in the future- is the option to Remove the Background of your JPEG or PNG file!

You can find it in the three-dots menu. Select 'Remove Background', and it'll create a copy of your image as a PNG with a transparent background.

If you have a more complicated image, with lots of background movement or connecting photo subjects, you may need a more extensive photo-editing program. However, if you're just removing a single-color or simple background behind your logo, it works in a pinch. Just make sure to select the correct file (it'll say 'Background Removed' in the title) prior to adding it to Photos!

If you're working from your Mac or your MacBook, let me know if this helps! Did this work for you? Did you come across something even better? Let me know in the comments!
